FAQ

Straight answers. No runaround.

You lost your home. You might be owed money. Here is everything you need to know before you decide what to do about it.

Is this legitimate? How do I know this is not a scam?

AuctionBlock is a registered Oregon business serving all 50 states. We charge nothing upfront. You pay nothing if we fail. Our fee is collected only after surplus funds are disbursed directly to you. We publish our address, our founder's name, and 4,700+ free articles so you can verify everything we say.

What do you charge?

We charge 10% of the amount we recover, with a $4,999 minimum. Competitors charge 40–45% — on $50,000 owed to you, they take $20,000. We take $5,000 and you keep $45,000. You always have the option to file the claim yourself for free.

What if you do not recover my money?

You owe us nothing. $0 upfront, $0 if we fail. Our fee is collected only after the surplus is disbursed to you. We take on all the risk.

Why only 10% when competitors charge 40%?

Because the person who lost their home should keep the money — not the company that files the paperwork. On $100,000 owed to you, a 40% competitor takes $40,000. We take $10,000. You save $30,000. Our incentive is to get it done fast, not inflate our cut.

How long does the process take?

Most recoveries are completed in 30–60 days from filing. We file within 14 business days of receiving your signed documents — or our fee drops 50%.

How long do I have to claim my surplus?

States give you 1–5 years. After that deadline, the government keeps your money permanently through a process called escheatment. There is no appeal. No exception. No second chance. The clock is already running.

Who qualifies?

If you were the property owner at the time of the foreclosure sale — or an heir or estate representative of that person — you are likely eligible. We verify this as part of our free initial research.

What do I need to get started?

Your name and the property address. That is it. Submit the form, and we research your case at no cost. We respond within 48 hours with what we find.

Can I file the claim myself?

Yes. We publish free guides for every state so you can do exactly that. If you want professional help, we handle everything for a flat fee. Either way, the goal is for you to get your money.

Do you work in my state?

We serve families in all 50 states. Tax foreclosure laws vary by state, so we maintain a database of state-specific laws, deadlines, and filing procedures. Visit our State Laws page to see the rules where you live.

Are you a law firm?

No. We provide surplus fund recovery services and coordinate with attorneys when court petitions are required for mortgage claims. We do not provide legal advice or representation.
